About TOMRA

TOMRA is a leading innovator in the circular economy and closed-loop recycling. Founded on the invention of the world’s first reverse vending machine 50 years ago TOMRA has expanded to most container deposit markets in world, providing invaluable experience in system design, investment and execution. TOMRA is now responsible for approximately 85,000 installations across more than 60 markets. TOMRA’s geographic footprint covers all continents, and the solutions provided are increasingly relevant for serving sustainable societies from expert advice for reverse vending providers and new deposit return regions to engaging recycling experiences for end users.

GreenStyle Solutions d.o.o. is an authorized TOMRA Collection distributor for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In 1972, Norwegian siblings Tore and Petter Planke established TOMRA with the aim of addressing a crucial challenge faced by retailers. Their goal was to develop the inaugural fully automated reverse vending machine (RVM), which would accept empty beverage containers and offer a refund or incentive in exchange. Tore created the initial prototype of this machine in his garage after receiving a request from a supermarket owner who was grappling with the manual collection of drink containers due to Norway’s deposit legislation. Fast forward fifty years, TOMRA Collection stands at the forefront of the circular economy, amalgamating technology with sustainable impact across its Collection, Recycling, and Food sectors to spearhead the resource revolution.

TOMRA Collection in Bosnia and Herzegovina

TOMRA Collection is present in Bosnia and Herzegovina by the authorized distributer GreenStyle Solutions d.o.o. since 2023.

As a candidate country for EU membership, Bosnia and Herzegovina is expected to align its legislation and regulations with EU standards, including those related to environmental protection and waste management. Experts say this will be difficult to impossible to achieve without a Deposit Return System in place, and these programs are on the rise. In the past three years alone, 22 states or countries have committed to updating or developing existing deposit systems. The EU has set ambitious recycling targets and encourages member states and candidate countries among which is Bosnia and Herzegovina to implement effective recycling systems.

TOMRA Collection in Bosnia and Herzegovina is dedicated to collaboration and knowledge sharing with country’s legislation stakeholders from public and private sector committed to circular economy.
